Tina Lott

EdD, NCC, LCPC, CADC, ACS, BC-TMH

Tina Lott is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Certified Addictions and other Drug Counselor (CADC), an Advanced Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). She also holds the coveted National Certified Counselor (NCC) certification. Dr. Lott received her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in addiction from Chicago State University, her master’s degree in community counseling from Governors State University, and her doctorate in counselor ducation and supervision from Governors State University. Dr. Lott belongs to several professional organizations, including the Illinois Counseling Association (ICA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Dr. Lott has 11 years of experience working with persons who present with severe mental illness (SMI). Dr. Lott served for 3 years as the Executive Director of a mental health facility on the north side of Chicago that serves as a home to persons with severe and persistent mental health conditions. Currently, Dr. Lott is an Academic Coordinator and Core Faculty Professor at Walden University in the School of Counseling College. She teaches practicum and internship courses that are essential to the development of well-rounded and culturally competent counselors in training.

Dr. Lott leads with intention in every task that she commits to. One of her primary areas of focus and leadership is stigma and its impact on the well-being of persons diagnosed with SMI. She has published on this important topic and is preparing to launch a YouTube channel specifically targeted to new counselors and mental health professionals. Furthermore, Dr. Lott is an advocate for social justice and has a personal and professional goal of addressing issues related to stigma at both the micro and macro levels of society.

Dr. Lott is a contracted counselor through PATH Mental Health where she provides quality online counseling through the lens of rational emotive behavior therapy. She provides supervision to counselors-in-training, consultation with peers on her areas of expertise, and serves as a gatekeeper to the profession. When she is not working, she enjoys reading; traveling; painting; exercising; and spending time with her two children, wife, and dog.
