CCE credentials allow professionals to showcase their specialties and areas of expertise, helping them to stand out in the mental health professions. Credentials such as the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH) demonstrate capability in a specialized mode or area of practice. These credentials are available to mental health providers of any profession who meet eligibility requirements. This makes them an ideal complement to professional licensure or certification within a distinct profession.
Telehealth is more popular than ever, but it requires unique considerations and additional skills. The BC-TMH certification speaks to the holder’s qualifications in this specialized but increasingly common modality.
Many experienced mental health professionals provide supervision to colleagues and trainees. The ACS demonstrates a particular commitment to quality supervision, with the training and experience to provide it.
The National Certified Counselor (NCC) reinforces a Counselor’s professional identity, while the ACS and BC-TMH represent additional skills and expertise. These credentials help a Counselor or other professional stand out to clients, colleagues, and employers. Many NCCs pursue these credentials, which represent such important mental health skills in today’s market.
“Earning the NCC credential marked my official entry into the professional counseling world,” says Amanda Evans, PhD, NCC, BC-TMHC, ACS.
As well as her NCC, Dr. Evans obtained the ACS and BC-TMH credentials to demonstrate training and experience in these areas.
“As an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), I was prepared to take on a leadership role by supporting and guiding Counselors in their clinical development,” says Dr. Evans. “In my role as an educator, I draw on the knowledge and experiences gained through these credentials every day, both in the classroom and while supervising Counselors and students. . . . These credentials represent a true mark of distinction in the Counseling field, and my journey has been shaped by NBCC and the opportunities they have provided.”
