Mental health is as critically important for whole body wellness. Telehealth methods allow providers to offer safe and secure care to those who otherwise may not receive it. Clients can often receive treatment from the comfort of their homes, removing the stigma associated with seeking mental health care.
As we age, our declining physical health affects our mental health. Older adults may also experience loneliness and isolation, which can make existing mental health conditions worse.
Individuals diagnosed with serious mental illnesses (SMI) beyond anxiety and depression have also been shown to have a higher prevalence of chronic health conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, making the need for integrated mental and physical health care even greater.
Providers who earn the Board Certified-TeleMental Health (BC-TMH) credential receive extensive training in order to safely and securely offer their services virtually, allowing them to serve more clients in need as a convenient alternative to in-person visits.
